I am a DotA addict, and I find the DotA shop items overwhelming or time-consuming to study. I wanted a simple visual guide of DotA item recipes that I can refer to while playing the game, and save time and earn gold and experience. In one glance, I have an idea of what items to get.

- DotA Item Chart is updated from 6.50 to 6.58b:
- PLEASE DONATE! My PayPal donation link is found on the DotA Item Chart page: [link] A dollar donation could go a long long way to reward my hard work.
- New EPIC size. New EPIC layout. Reoworked the graphical framework for cleaner look and better alignments.
- Lighting effects and printable version coming soon! Please always check the official Dota Item Chart page for updates.
- Prices and shop indicators have been remade from scratch and:
- Passive effects are now indicated. Orb and attack effect text are more specific.
- Item Shops "ribbon bar" is improved! Yes, I am a big fan of the Office 2007 ribbon interface.
- Recipes has been remade from scratch and:
- Recipes that can be disassembled now have an Undo icon.
- Recipes that have Active Skills have a MouseClick icon.
- Removed "=" sign from recipes that has no scroll cost.
- Treads Recipe now points to Level 2 attribute items instead of level 1. Thanks to [link] for this big correction.
DotA Item Chart aims to provide a concise-format, one-glance wallpaper the DotA item details otherwise published in a long web page or document! The clean, organized look neatly packs in details about:
- Recipe Items and what other items are required to build it. - Gold Costs, Scroll Costs, and Grand Total Gold Costs (in parenthesis) - What place can you get the item from. Shop and their items are neatly indicated at the bottom. - A Mini Map that indicates the locations of Secret Shops, Roshan, Rune Spawning. - Item effects (Orb, Attack Enhancement, Aura)
The print version is designed to be quickly referencable while playing DotA.
The chart will greatly assist newbs so that they PWN the 1337 players sooner and be 1337 themselves. 1337 players can use the chart to make fast informed decisions on what best item to get for their heroes.
Making this chart is meticulous, challenging, and at times mind-boggling. Just the decluterring alone is like playing higher-level games at Planarity.net!
In deviantArt, DotA Item Chart got 150,000+ views from DotA fans around the world since January 2006 -- and still counting.
It is even featured at Randy Krum's Cool Infographics blog: [link] If you like infographics like this DotA Item Chart, I recommend checking out more graphics at [link]
Many thanks to those who gave their support and feedback! I hope you find this chart very helpful, especially those new to DotA Allstars.
Special greetings to all DotA players in the Philippines!
My thanks to DotaPortal.com for accepting my item chart into their website.

I think you should colour code the thing further. E.g. for the combine items, use different colours for the 4 tiers. For the items that can be bought, use different colours to show what item can be bought in which shop. If you don't want to make it too messy, use different shades of the same colour.
Right now I have no idea how you colour coded the thing, except maybe just to make it easier to read.
And yeah, name and price where appropriate would be good. And why put the Necronomicon 3 times when the Dagon only appears once? And pointing the belt and staff to the upgrades might be misleading, unless now you need them to upgrade the book instead of just buying the recipe. I never get that item.
This can be useful, but I already know all the good items off by heart anyway lol.
There are 4 shops with the recipes right? Each shop has a "Level" i.e. the orc peon shop has the easiest to get items, the human peasant shop the slightly not so easy ones, the wisp has the pretty hard ones, and the acolyte has the end game recipes.
Go into any DotA games, click on the recipe shops, and you'll see that they have a level writen in the status bar. They also use this to cross reference items in the recipe, like the Y&S says "Requires Yasha (Level2) Sange (Level 2).
Ah, yup, shop Levels. I'll keep you posted about this -- Version 2 is coming soon! The shop indicators (including the non-level shops and secret shop) will be included in Version 3.
(Adding this for trackback purposes. I'm reserving the top message for the latest stuff.)
Enhancements
* Added item names using a decent tiny font.
* Added gold cost per item or scroll.
* Added color-code legend.
* Wallpaper size of 1152x768 is retained. Arrow heads are made slimmer, and several items are rearranged to give way to item names.
Corrections
* Null Talisman requires Mantle of Intelligence instead of Robe of the Magi.
* Indicated that Dagon is upgradable 4 times.
* Indicated that Necrominion is upgradable 2 times.
* Changed border from green to orange for Buriza-do Kyanon and Aegis of the Immortal.
* Battle Fury requires Perseverence.
* Indicated that Stygian Desolator requires 2 Mithril Hammers.
* Indicated that Eye of Skadi requires 2 Ultimate Orbs.
khclupus, have you tried creating Sange & Yasha using the latest Warcraft III patch (1.20c)? Me and my friends have found that it is impossible to create even if you got the buying sequence right. Anything that we should do to make Sange & Yasha possible to create?
Ok, I'll create a separate printer-friendly version having those features, and provide a link from here. This one is intended to be wallpaper-style with dark background.

DotA is grrrrrrrrrrrreat!
